- We rose with the sun and made it to the park early, so we found 2 parking spots together with no problem. Then we split up to take two separate hikes. Zac, Ben and Adam went up up up to the top of Angel's Landing, and the rest of us hiked up up to the Three Emerald Pools.
- It was so hot, the only day in any of the parks that we really felt the heat that was pounding the SW.
- The Angel's Landing trail was busy, but even with the traffic jams, the guys did the hike, that typically takes 4-hours, in 2.5--Adam's heart rate went up to 175bpm at one point! With the rocks' ability to absorb the heat, it was close to 114* at the top of Angel's Landing, and by the time they got up, a couple of my guys had run out of water, so they took in the view, took some photos and ran back down down down quickly to fill their water bottles and go for a swim in the Virgin River.
- Over at the Emerald Pools hike, we were also hot. It was beautiful, especially the misty fall above the first pool and the big pool at the top. There were tons of tadpoles darting around in the top pool that sat at the base of a huge rock edifice and the boys dug around in the sand a bit. After a rest and a snack, with the heat, we wanted some water that was not off-limits for swimming--so down down we also went, right back to the river.
- Josh found a perfect jumping rock and jumped about 50 times.
- We all met back up at the Zion History Museum, listened to a ranger talk on the powerful Virgin River and how it has carved the canyon, and the little two received their Zion Junior Ranger Badges. Then some lunch!
- We had to sadly say goodbye to Adam the next morning so he could go home to work after first stopping in Ogden to see his brother, while the rest of us headed on to Vegas.
