Ben and Josh: San Isabel Scout Camp 2017

Ben and Josh had the opportunity to knock out some badges at San Isabel Scout Ranch the week after we got home from our long road trip.  Boy Scout Camp???  Yes!  After just two nights in their own beds, it was off to another week of camping for the pair of them.

In addition to working on the Astronomy, Rifles, Climbing and Emergency Preparedness Merit Badges, they did the sunrise hike, took the polar bear plunge, built deeper friendships with the boys from their troop and learned what it means to truly be a Boy Scout.  They had such a great time!

The Sunday after the boys returned from camp, one of the men in our ward, a grandfather who was able to be there as one of our troop leaders for camp, sought Adam and I out at church.  He works for the church and has traveled extensively around the world.  He has lived in Chile, Switzerland and Uganda, and has done so much good there that he was awarded the honorary title of "King" among one of the tribes.  He said to us, "In all my work and travels, I have had the opportunity to meet many young men, and your boys are two of the finest young men I have ever had the opportunity to encounter."  We were blown over.  I fully teared up and simultaneously Adam got something in his eye.  Allergies...just allergies.  It meant so much to hear that.  Of course we think our boys are wonderful, but they are ours.  Hearing such a high compliment from someone who is really just an acquaintance to us was an honor.  The boys take their goodness out into the world, and we are so proud of them.
