The Conlins Go To California: Beach

No California trip feels quite complete without a stop at the beach.  We had hoped to meet up with the Lewises and my friend Katie and her kids at Laguna Beach's Main Beach, but Kai and Isla both were feeling under the weather, and the trip out to the beach ended up falling through for Katie and her kiddos.  But we were lucky that Jason still came out to meet us--with a wagon of beach toys and a few body boards.  He is a pro and gave the boys some pointers.

The water was freezing, but that didn't stop the boys from swimming in the salty blue!  Luke and I were the only two who opted to remain on the sand.  We had a beach picnic, built sand castles, dug deep holes, buried a few brothers and swam and swam.  It was a really hot day, so that helped temper the icy water.  The beach is good for the soul!

In the evening, we headed to Leah and Jason's house so we could see Leah and the babies before heading to Rancho Mirage for bed and a couple of desert days.  It was good family time, eating dinner and watching Trolls.  Kai is such a lover, he was excited to have all his dudes around him for the night.  Ben won over Isla, no surprise there because babies love Ben, and Josh gave it a mighty go, but Ben wouldn't relinquish her even if she had wanted to let him hold her.  I was glad to have a bit more sister time, and my boys love their cousins so much!  I'm pretty sure that if I weren't the one packing the bags, they might have snuck two little cousins home with us by tucking them in between shorts and socks.

It was a really nice, relaxing day after three really action-packed days!
