In mid-October, the boys had a day off school so the teachers could get grades ready for the end of the quarter, so we decided it was time to visit a "real" pumpkin patch again--like we used to when we lived in Washington--so we drove out to Canon City to Diana's Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze. I may have gotten my hopes a little too high for beautiful green vines loaded with plump pumpkins, buuuuut...let's get real, folks, we were still in Colorado. The vines were all dead and the pumpkins had mostly been cut free already, but they DID actually grow there and hadn't been carted in on a truck and dumped in a barren field, so that's exciting. And there was a very fun corn maze (that was only half-dead looking, which is the same as half-alive). Tommy and I never found our way to the exit, but we did circle around the maze several times, while I fought down feelings of claustrophobia, and were able to exit through the entrance. The rest of the guys found the exit, no problem. Tommy, Luke and Josh loved the corn pit, and all the boys had a good time racing the rubber duckies and sliding down the slide. And we even took a ride on the tractor wagon before heading home. It was a really fun day with my boys! I am so grateful for teens that don't roll their eyes and mope through activities that are geared to the younger crowd, but choose to enjoy the family time and embrace the kid that is still inside.
