To Washington We Will Go: Nana Camp!

The theme for Nana Camp 2016-2017 was "Seattle Tourist" and the boys had a blast exploring the city that they thought they knew and didn't know at all.

Day one they climbed all over the Fremont Troll and solved his many trollish riddles--including "What is your favorite color?;" watched the salmon run and the boats rise and fall as they passed from Lake Union to the Puget Sound (and vice versa) at the Ballard Hiram Chittenden Locks; explored the Burke Museum and learned about Northwest history; and walked across the University of Washington campus to visit the UW Crew House where the story of the Boys in the Boat began.

On the morning of day two they picked six pounds of blueberries at the Lake Hills Blueberry Bog and didn't run into a single bear (kerplink, kerplonk, kerplunk).  Then they took in the amazing waterfront scenery while riding the Seattle to Bainbridge Island ferry--where they had ice cream and tooled around the marina area before returning back to the city.

Day three was packed!  The Seattle Underground Tour, known for it's hilarious take on Seattle history, was up first.  They thought it was really cool and informative.  Then lunch at Ivar's on the waterfront where they were actually encouraged to feed the seagulls.  Next up was the amazing "Art of the Brick" exhibit at the Pacific Science Center.  The boys LOVED it--how could they not?!  It was definitely the highlight of Nana Camp.  To round out the day, they headed back to the waterfront and took a ride on Seattle's Big Wheel.

It was an incredible week!  My boys love and look forward to this time adventuring with their grandparents every year.  We are so grateful to them for giving the boys these incredible experiences.
