The first batch of June Bits:
| While Nana was visiting we watched the first-aired episode of Star Trek, wherein a shape-shifting salt-loving alien sucks the salt out of people's bodies when it has no other means to satisfy its salty needs, leaving red suction cup dots all over the poor, dead, desalted victim. I guess can see how that description sounds terrifying, but you have to remember that we are talking about B-grade, low-budget 1960's television...it was so cheesy! However, it really freaked out Tommy, who then had a hard time falling asleep. After returning him to his room three times after he had initially been settled into bed, he finally fell asleep. When I went to check on the boys before I went to bed, this is what I found. Thank you, Luke, for being the best kind of big brother! |
| Love those summer nights. |
| And stormy summer skies! |
| I always say they are growing up too fast, but when the facial hair came in overnight, it was alarming! |
| No one knows this but us superhero insiders, but Batman's first mask looked just like this. |
| Images of summer. |
| He was so proud that he made his favorite breakfast, Eggos with Nutella, all by himself! (Yeah, yeah, not superfood egg-white omelettes with fresh fruit...whatever). |
| These shin guards have protected the shins of all five boys over the years. I still remember buying them for Zac in the shoe department at Dillard's in Provo, Utah where he played his first rec-league soccer while Adam was earning his MBA. We had so little money at the time, that buying a pair of Adidas shin guards was a huge splurge, but they seemed to be good quality guards and they stayed put on his leg, so I took the plunge. They sure have been a good investment! |
| Take that, lemonade stand! These two little entrepreneurs made five bucks this week selling their paper creations. |
| It was camp week for the Conlin boys! First up: Cub Scout Day Camp! I was our ward's "walk-along" for day one so I was able to witness all the fun the boys were having. They built a Pinewood Derby car display stand and a ring toss game (using spray paint--yikes!), played team building and Fear Factor games (he actually liked the pureed baby food peas), practiced flag etiquette, and learned about living as a hearing impaired and a vision impaired person. Ben and Josh each took a half-day to get some service hours knocked out by helping with some of the water activities that Luke's group will get to do on day two. Our stake puts on such a great camp every year! |
| Josh has really enjoyed getting to know his alto sax at band camp! |
| Bravo, Zac! Eagle Scout paperwork complete and turned in! It's been a long road, and the paperwork is incredibly daunting, but Zac has worked hard to earn this great honor and we are so proud of him. And a big hurrah for Adam, too, who was by his side whenever needed to give a push or a helping hand. |
| Cub Scout Day Camp day two was just as exciting as day one! The boys were able to participate in shooting sports and water games, learn about having NO FEAR because they are Sons of God, as well as earn their Whittling Chip. And of course, they spent a little more time with Fred, our gathering tree. |
| I was able to spend a fun night down in Fountain with a great group of ladies celebrating Shaina's 40th. She sure knows how to throw a party. We had a blast! |
| Coach Zac and Camper Tommy had a wonderful week at the Rampart High School soccer camp! |
| Sunset. |

It was had to understand the scariness of the firs t Star Trek show, because it was definitely cheesy. But I am not six. We did redeem the show by watching The Trouble with Tribbles next. Still my favorite. So glad the boys liked their camps! And Bravo for Zac on two fronts, Ramport soccer coach and Eagle Scout paperwork! Love the Origami stand 😀
