The Thing To Do
Today a package arrived for the boys from my cousin JJ. The card read "DO open before Christmas!" Boy! Were those boys excited! Packaged in cute red, green and glittery gold-painted homemade wrappings (made by my cousin's 2-year-old Lincoln) was a Christmas book and a gingerbread train kit. What a perfect activity for the first official day of winter break! We set to task immediately. The train was fun to put together...and pretty yummy too. All the boys had green-stained lips and sticky licked-clean fingers by the time the train was in one piece.

But we weren't the only ones building with gingerbread today. I had not one, but two, different friends call to ask me instructions for making the royal icing we used on our candy houses earlier this month. I'm sure glad JJ sent this to us just in time so we could participate in what obviously just seemed the thing to do today for winter break activity seeking mommies across the country!

Gingerbread houses were not on the list, but now they are. Thanks for the idea. The train is adorable! Merry Christmas!
Just getting back to the blogosphere and I was so happy to see this!! Glad they had fun -- you guys make a mean gingerbread train! xo
