Ben turned 12 nearly one month ago. It was an even birthday, which means "friend party" around the Chaos home, but we have been a little busy...just a tad...a wee bit, so we hadn't had the chance to throw him the party he was asking for: to take three friends indoor rock climbing and have a sleepover afterward. We finally had one open Friday night this past week that was followed by a late enough first soccer game on Saturday that we could squeeze it in. YES!
Last Friday night, Adam and Nicolle took Ben, along with his friends, Owen, Micah, and James, to City Rock, a different place than we went for Luke's birthday, a little more costly, but better for a kid-party-less-serious-climbing-for-fun crowd. They had a blast! They arrived at City Rock around six, planning on climbing for a couple hours and then coming home for homemade pizza and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. They were having so much fun that they ended up staying until just before the 10pm closing...and eating a really late dinner. They had the best time!
They tried to stay up for a movie after they ate and opened presents, but by 11:30pm the movie was playing to a chorus of snores...everyone was out cold. My kind of sleepover! These boys, particularly Micah and Owen, have been Ben's close friends for many years now, and we are so grateful that he has them. They are like brothers to him...as if he needed more! We are so glad he could finally celebrate his 12 years of life with them!
