...The Conlin Cabin the best place to be. It was bound to happen. We are in the Pac NW after all. The sun can't last forever here. Rain. We woke up on Thursday to a drizzle that lasted all day, with periods of heavier rain from time to time. And it was still a perfect day! We just hung out together, eating leftovers, watching movies, reading books, working puzzles, wrestling with Uncle Ryan. It happened to be his birthday, so wrestling was almost a requirement for the day. All the boys think the world of their Uncle Ryan, but Luke in particular LOVES him. Ryan obviously loves his unclehood, but I am sure he will be happy for the quiet again when we all clear out of his sometime home here at the cabin.
Yes, it was a quiet, relaxing day, not much to do but be. However, the lake was calling out, "Come boys! Come splash and play!" Josh and Ben heeded the call. And because Adam is the best sport, they convinced him to take them out into the chilly pouring rain and those three crazies took a dive into the cold deep. Tommy desperately wanted in with the swimmers. He was so mad to be stuck on the dock! But it was a big "No" from me, no cold rainy day swimming until he can tell us when he's feeling cold!
Luke watched the fun being had in the pouring rain from the balcony of the cabin, and decided to take part. I was surprised to see him exit the house dressed in his swim clothes, and even more surprised to see him get in the water. And even though he cried off and on from the moment he got into the water, he got in by choice. I was astounded. And very proud to see him choose to stretch his limits and do something hard. That has been his theme for the summer, "Luke can do hard things." Maybe repeating that mantra to him all summer has actually been beneficial!
The day ended with a small birthday celebration and a fantastic sunset. {sigh} Still loving life here at the Conlin Cabin! We have so many fun things ahead for our visit here in WA, but I'm already feeling sad that tomorrow's our last night here.

Even with the rain that just looks fabulous. so relaxing.
Love the whispering lake & Go, Luke!!
I saw Adam the kiddos at Church but he said you were stuck in Everett. Sorry we missed you. It looks like this trip has been a great success; even Aunt Sara seemed pleased with all the time she has had with your boys. :-)
