Thanksgiving Break in AZ and CA

Over two snowy passes, through New Mexico, and several rivers we go!

We spent another wonderful Thanksgiving with our Booher/Hancock family in Gilbert, AZ.  Plans were hatched to join up for the holiday back while we were there during spring break, because we just can't stay away.  We all love visiting with our family there and are always welcomed with wide open arms.

We spent the days playing, eating and relaxing.  The kids were crazy, as always, and swam every day in Britt's freezing pool; dart wars abounded with Carson home from basic training for the National Guard Medic Corps; Ben ran over 30 miles during the week at lower altitude; we saw Moana with our ohana, and loved it; we got to see how the Scouts cooked turkeys in a pit barbecue as a fundraiser; and we ate at all of our favorite places that seem to be collected on one single corner in Gilbert.  For Thanksgiving, we were joined by Nana and Papa, and feasted gloriously at Brent and Dorothy's.  What a gorgeous backyard setting for our feast and what wonderful family we have to gather with there!  I know each member of the Conlin Chaos was filled with gratitude for all that we have--especially our treasured family.  We've never lived there, but it's amazing how it feels like "home" when we are together.

Friday morning, we hopped in the car and drove to Rancho Mirage to meet up with Leah, Kai and Isla, stopping only to slurp down Bahama Bucks.  Oh!  Happy reunion!  It was so good to be together!  Mostly we just played around at the condo: swimming twice a day, paddle boating, soccer-tennis on the courts, movies and Gilmore Girls for some down time, and lots and lots of play with baby cousins.  Adam and Papa even got to play a *free* 9 holes, thanks to Papa's "connections."  Leah and Kai came down with a stomach bug one of the days, which wasn't awesome, but we still got to be together as they felt better, and that is what mattered.  And we had two yummy dinners out on the town--one kid-free, the other with the whole gang.

The weekend was too short, but we had to get the kids home and back to school.  It was so hard to leave knowing we may not be back, since my parents are selling the Rancho Mirage condo.  It was like leaving one of our most happy places for the last time.  Hopefully these same sweet memories will be made together somewhere new!  It was a wonderful break with my most wonderful seven.
